The rare fragrance brand
Ofumum
arrives in Japan for the first time on Friday, August 2.
A fragrance brand by Alexandre Piffaut, founder and current director of MAD et LEN, and ceramist Manon Hudson.
The design, forming and production of the ceramics, perfumes and scented objects are all carried out in a workshop in the mountains of France. The brand has launched exclusively in three cities — Paris, NYC and Amsterdam — and Ofumum is limited to one account per country.
Ofumum means "of smoke" in Latin.
Perfume is said to originate in prayers offered to the gods through smoke rising to the heavens from burning plants and resins. And ceramics, likewise one of the oldest traces of ancient civilization. A world woven from two art forms expressed through heat and smoke.
The old-fashioned gesture of applying scent with a cork suggests a poetic vision, as if the bottle, the perfume and the wearer resonate with one another.
